Habits
Set a good example for your
child by eating healthy foods.
Discourage snacking on sweets
and fatty foods.
- Have plenty of healthy
snacking foods like fruits and vegetables available.
Allow children to follow
their natural appetites and decide how much to eat.
Encourage their consumption
and enjoyment of fruits and vegetables early on.
Ask for their help when
preparing meals, the sooner they learn to cook the better.
Encourage them to ask
questions about the food they are eating.

Unhealthy Eating Habits!
(things to
avoid)
- Do not give children skim or not-fat milk
under the age of five, they still need the extra calories from
whole milk.
- Do not add unnecessary sugar
to drinks and foods.
- Do not accustom your child to
extra salt by adding it to food or placing the shaker on the table.
- Whole nuts should not be
given to children under 5 due to choking hazards.
- Do not force children to eat
more than they want.
- Do not make children feel
guilty about eating any type of food.
- Keep consumption of juices
and soda to a minimum, choosing water whenever possible.
