Child
Nutrition Foundation: The Child Nutrition Foundation (CNF)
provides high-quality professional development, financial aid and
research programs to child nutrition professionals and members of
the School Nutrition Association (formerly ASFSA). The Foundation’s
commitment to the child nutrition community is integral to
implementing positive change in school meals and, ultimately, to the
health of school children.
NFSMI : As a
national center, the Institute provides information, conducts
applied research, and offers training and education opportunities
using appropriate technology. NFSMI serves anyone connected with the
Child Nutrition Programs: school lunch, school breakfast, summer
feeding, and Child and Adult Care (NFSMI, 2005)
Nutritional Assistance Programs : "FNS increases food security and
reduces hunger in partnership with cooperating organizations by
providing children and low-income people access to food, a healthful
diet, and nutrition education in a manner that supports American
agriculture and inspires public confidence." (Nutritional Assistance
Programs, 2005)
Maternal and
Child Health Bureau: "The
Maternal and Child Health Bureau, MCHB,
seeks a nation where there is equal access for all to quality
health care in a supportive, culturally competent, family and
community setting." (MCHB, 2005)
NICHD: "The mission of the NICHD is to ensure that every person is born
healthy and wanted, that women suffer no harmful effects from
reproductive processes, and that all children have the chance to
achieve their full potential for healthy and productive lives, free
from disease or disability, and to ensure the health, productivity,
independence, and well-being of all people through optimal
rehabilitation." (NICHD, 2005)
CDA
: CDA promotes the excellent nutrition
and health for Californians by advocating for its members. CDA
members have become the leading source for food and nutritional
services. The site is an informational source that is that has the
most reliable information for you, your doctors and more.
School Nutrition Association "The School
Nutrition Association (SNA), formerly American School Food Service
Association, has been advancing the availability, quality and
acceptance of school nutrition programs as an integral part of
education since 1946." (SNA, 2005) Home to the National School Lunch
Program (NSLP)
Child Nutrition Foundation : The Child
Nutrition Foundation is the sister organization of SNA, and plays a
large role in fundraising money for their outreach programs. The
program is committed to supplying funds to the School Nutrition
Association.
Center for
Science in the Public Interest :
The Center for Science in the Public Interest has been a huge
advocate of supplying ample information about nutrition and health,
food safety, and even the alcohol policy. It has an award winning
newsletter "Nutrition Action Health letter" that is the largest
circulation health letter in North America and is very reliable for
health and nutritional information.
Food and
Nutrition Information Center: The Food and Nutrition
Information Center has been involved with food and human nutrition
for a long time, providing a directory to credible, accurate and
practical resources for anyone interested in health, including
nutritionists and educators.
School
Meals: This program provides
information to anyone working for the USDA’s Child Nutrition
Program.
